Superfluid and normal fluid density in high-T c superconductors

چکیده

The electronic properties of the cuprate superconductors have been studied by measuring the reflectance over the frequency range from the far-infrared to the near-ultraviolet (roughly, 10 meV-5 eV). There is an interesting behavior in both the normal state and the superconducting state. In the normal state, there is the well-known non-Drude distribution of the doping-induced spectral weight. In the superconducting state, the spectral weight of the superconducting condensate correlates with T c in a variety of materials. Remarkably, in optimally doped superconductors, only about 20% of the doping-induced carriers joins the superfluid; the rest of the spectral weight remains at finite frequencies. © 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. Low Temperature Superfluid Response of High-tc Superconductors

We have reviewed our theoretical and experimental results of the low temperature superfluid response function ρs of high temperature superconductors (HTSC). In clean high-Tc materials the in-plane superfluid density ρ ab s varies linearly with temperature. The slope of this linear T term is found to scale approximately with 1/Tc which, according to the weak coupling BCS theory for a d-wave supe...

Superfluid Bosons and Flux Liquids: Disorder, Thermal Fluctuations, and Finite–Size Effects

The influence of different types of disorder (both uncorrelated and correlated) on the superfluid properties of a weakly interacting or dilute Bose gas, as well as on the corresponding quantities for flux line liquids in high–temperature superconductors at low magnetic fields are reviewed, investigated and compared. We exploit the formal analogy between superfluid bosons and the statistical mec...

Anomalous superfluid density in quantum critical superconductors.

When a second-order magnetic phase transition is tuned to zero temperature by a nonthermal parameter, quantum fluctuations are critically enhanced, often leading to the emergence of unconventional superconductivity. In these "quantum critical" superconductors it has been widely reported that the normal-state properties above the superconducting transition temperature T(c) often exhibit anomalou...

Entropy entrainment and dissipation in superfluid

We discuss finite temperature effects in superfluid Helium, providing a direct demonstration that a model based on treating the excitations in the system as a massless “entropy” fluid is equivalent to the traditional two-fluid approach. In particular, we demonstrate how the entropy entrainment is related to the “normal fluid density”. We also show how the superfluid constraint of irrotationalit...
